is a significant tradition-bearer of chamber ensembles in Slovakia and it is straightly linked to the message of the legendary Slovak Quartet with its 30 years´ existence (1957-1987) consisting of A. Móľi, A. Nemec, M. Telecký and F. Tannenberger.
The opportunity to use the label SLOVAK QUARTET was given right from the establishing member of the Slovak Quartet - Milan Telecký (viola player). The musicians thankfully accepted the offer and since january 2009 the Slovak quartet has been represented by: 1st violin - Juraj Tomka, 2nd violin - Eduard Pingitzer, viola - Július ©oąka, violoncello - Martin «aľký.
The members of the quartet have gained much experience in chamber music. The thought of creating a string quartet dates back to 1999 to the platform of the State Conservatory in Bratislava. The quartet and its members actively took part in many masterclasses of solo and chamber music with personalities such as Norbert Brainin and Siegmund Nissel (Amadeus Quartett), Sándor Devich and László Mező (Bartók Quartet), Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett), Reiner Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Milan ©kampa (Smetanovo kvarteto) and ©kampovo kvarteto.
In 2002 the quartet started to perform on various concert stages and festivals under the name Pressburger Quartett. In the years 2002-2008 the Pressburger Quartet played a large amount of concerts on both domestic and foreign stages (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Hungary, Czechia, Poland). The quartet achieved the most important progress attending a two-years postgradual study in the chamber class of Univ. Prof. Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartett Wien) at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, with whom they have been closely cooperating since that time. Furthermore the quartet cooperates with the most important personalities in the musical field at numerous occasions and festivals.
As a result of a long-lasting performing experience, the repertoire of the Slovak quartet is extensive. It comprises compositions from baroque period to the contemporary music. The quartet also collaborates with contemporary composers and it has actively participated in performing several worldwide premieres of their works.
